The project which is included in scope of the Black Sea Coastal Road Project, located between Fatsa and Ordu and also known as Hapan Tunnel consists of two tubes and it is the longest tunnel for motor vehicles of our country with its length of 3.820 meters. It was opened on 29 December 2006 to provide service for land transportation. It is also equipped by electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems by Siemens company. Cement was supplied by our plant. The construction of the tunnel was started in 1997 with the loan made available by World Bank; the tunnel reduced the current route from 42 to 27 km. In addition to the mentioned project, there are also 4 other tunnels of various sizes on the route. The project is named after Nefise Akcelik, a civil engineer and academician who was known with her contributions to the development of highway tunnel construction in Turkey. Akcelik could not see the realization of the project which she had contributed to with her efforts as she lost her life due to cancer in October 2003.
