Unye Cimento Sanayii ve Ticaret A.S (Unye Cement Industry and Trade Inc.) was incorporated on May 28, 1969 in the district of Unye in Ordu in order to produce clinker and cement. Unye Cement, which started to operate under the company, incorporated by Turkiye Cimento Sanayii T.A.S. (Turkiye Cement Industry and Trade Inc.) and Armed Forces Pension Fund (OYAK), each holding 40% of the shares, and the real persons holding 20% of the shares, and performed its first cement production on May 27, 1974.

Unye Cement, having the installed capacity of 600.000 tons/year of cement, has reached up to 1.5 million tons/year of clinker production capacity and 2.6 million tons/year of cement production capacity following its capacity increase, improvement and modernization activities, to which it has attached importance since its incorporation.

All types of cement, produced in the plants of Unye Cement, have obtained the Certificate of Constancy of Performance.

Ports

  • Production and managerial activities of the company are carried out in the central facility located in Unye. A considerable part of the total sales are performed by the central facility. Marine logistics for domestic and international sales is performed through Unye Port, just beside the production plant, which the Company enjoys the privileged right to use.
  • Cement Filling and Packaging Plant, starting to operate in Rize/Cayeli in 1999, has 22.000 tons of cement stocking capacity. The Plant has its own port and ship unloading equipment. The Plant provides service for the projects in the extreme points of the Eastern Black Sea region.
  • Cement Filling and Packaging Plant, starting to operate in Mangalia Port in Romania in 2009, has 8.000 tons of cement stocking capacity. Mangalia Port, used publicly, and the ship unloading equipment of the facility are available in the border of the plant. The Plant, selling bulk and bag cement in the Romanian and Bulgarian markets, is a door to the European Union for Unye Cement.
  • M/V UNYE CEM 1 pneumatic ship, operating since 2013, is an environment friendly ship with 4.200 tons of bulk cement carrying capacity, and also it is the only ship equipped with the closed unloading system in our country. It performs shipment to the Filling and Packaging Plants and to the domestic and international markets. It can perform continuous bulk cement discharge under all kinds of weather conditions.

The shares of Unye Cimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Unye Cement Industry and Trade Inc.), have been traded on the Yildiz Market in BORSA ISTANBUL with the symbol of UNYEC since May 11, 1990. The Company is the highest tax payer with respect to Corporate Tax in Ordu each year, and is one of the 500 large industrial enterprises in Turkey.

On May 28, 1969 the Company was incorporated (the company incorporated by Turkiye Cimento Sanayii T.A.S. (Turkiye Cement Industry and Trade Inc.) and Armed Forces Pension Fund (OYAK), each holding 40% of the shares, and the real persons holding 20% of the shares).
On May 27, 1974 the first cement production was performed (561.000 tons/year of clinker production capacity and 600.000 tons/year of cement production capacity).
In 1987, Unye Port, which has draft of 6.80 mt, and which is 2.22 km away from the Plant, was constructed; in 2002, the Port, damaged due to the storm, was repaired; in 1987 and 2002, the Plant was entitled by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Turkey to make use of the port with priority and free of charge for a period of 49 years.
As of May 11, 1990, its shares started to be traded at the stock exchange with the symbol UNYEC.
In 1990, the 1st and 2nd Cement Mills, Grinder and Sepol Separator investments were performed, and 1.080.000 tons/year of cement production capacity was achieved upon increase of the capacity by 80%.
In 1995, the quality adventure started upon installment of the Quality Assurance System.
In 1996, TS EN ISO 9002 Quality Assurance System was certificated by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE).
In 1998, Cayeli (Rize) Filling and Packaging Plant, having the stocking capacity of 22.000 tons, started to operate.
In 2000, the 3rd Cement Mill Investment was performed, and 1.800.000 tons/year of cement production capacity was achieved upon increase of the capacity by 67%.
In 2002, Rotary Kiln investment was performed, and 1.500.000 tons/year of cement production capacity was achieved upon increase of the capacity by 165%.
In 2002, Quality Assurance System was converted into TS EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
In 2002, TS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management System was installed as a consequence of importance attached to environment and human health.
In 2002, the products were certificated as a prerequisite for exportation to EU market in accordance with EN 197-2 Cement Conformity Assessment Standard, and they started to bear CE marking.
In 2003, TS EN ISO 14001 Environment Management System was certificated by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE).
In 2005, OHSAS 18001Occupational Health and Safety Management System was installed, and it was certificated by the British Standards Institute (BSI).
In 2007, the 3rd Cement Mill, VSK and Roller Press investments were performed, and 2.600.000 tons/year of cement production capacity was achieved upon increase of the capacity by 40%.
In 2007, it was started to make use of ORACLE E-Business Suite, one of the Corporate Planning practices conducted on the IBM AS/400 system previously.
In 2008, management systems were gathered under a single document structure, and it was called INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
In 2008, Integrated Management System was started to be conducted electronically by using QDMS (Quality Documents Management System).
In the first quarter of 2009, the Filling and Packaging Plant, having the stocking capacity of 8.000 tons, which is established in Mangalia Port in Romania, started to operate.
In 2012, raw meal/kiln bag filter investment was performed.
In 2013, R&D and ready-mix laboratory, operating on customer-oriented basis, were established.
In 2014, drying and firing systems, enabling use of alternative fuel for the purpose of energy recovery form the domestic solid wastes, were put into operation in the province of Ordu.
In 2014, 3rd Level Advanced Process Control Software investment was performed.
In 2015, SNCR investment was performed for the purpose of reducing the flue gas nitrous oxides.
In 2015, sales and raw material processes were automatized with the SATEL (Sales and Supply Logistics Management System) project.
In 2016, eBA (Electronic Documentation Flow System) was installed under the paperless office project, and efforts for inclusion of business processes in the system were initiated.
